Brian Hyerstay Resets the NHRA G/Dragster record at 8.97!

Hyerstay's twin-cam VW-powered dragster puts the National Record into the 8s for the very first time
May 19, 2014

Eugene, Oregon's Brian Hyerstay dropped the NHRA G/D National Record into the 8-second bracket, this past May17. While competing in Spokane, Washington, Hyerstay shattered his own G/Dragster record by recording a 9.13/140.44mph pass, which was corrected by NHRA to a 8.97/143.10mph (Spokane is 2500ft altitude). This was good enough to break the existing E.T. record, held by Brian, in his VW-powered (air-cooled), twin-cam 1750cc (107 cubic inches) dragster. This engine has been fitted with one-off, billet cylinder heads with two cams (one per head), and was featured in a past issue of Hot VWs magazine. Congrats to Brian for keeping his VW in the record books.
