Irwindale Speedway announces one year land lease extension to the end of 2015

Good news for the Bug-In and Hot VWs Drag Day, as they look to the 2015 racing season

Late last year we began to hear the disturbing news that the land where the Irwindale Event Center is located had been sold, with designs on redevelopment. It has been said that this piece of land will be the new home for a masive Wal Mart distribution center, which also means.... no more circle track and 1/8th mile drag strip! With that shocking report, it looked like 2014 would be the last year to use this location for the Bug-In and Hot VWs Drag Days. But news we now receive is that the new land owners are delaying their development plans one years, and it now looks like Irwindale Speedway will remain open and racing through the end of 2015.

In the March issue of Hot VWs we take a look at Jim Arbuckle's amazing 1958 convertible, which received an amazing amount of race car engineering, including Porsche 944 trailing arms with coil-overs in the rear and a-arm suspension up front! A true one-of-a-kind throughout, and just one of the many features in the March 2017 issue of Hot VWs magazine.
