The third big VW race of the 2014 BRS season is now taking place the Sacramento Drag Strip in Rancho Cordova. Saturday evening is set aside for the first of two rounds of racing, with the final round, and eliminations to take place Sunday. Tonight we saw Kris Lauffer unload his Pro-Mod sedan and ran through the lights at over 188mph, well beyond the current Pro-Mod record. In Top Eliminator, Doug Harvey set the pace with a 7.90 in his wild, front-engined (air-cooled) New Beetle. Shawn Geers came back from a summer-long thrash to raise the roof on his formerly chop-top Ghia to what the class now requires. Did this slow him down? We'll see tomorrow,as racing, full car show and giant swap meet takes place under the warm Sacramento sun. Be there!
